TAG leading the way

Transit Australia Group is a group of quality businesses with exceptional capabilities.

Transit Australia Group (TAG) is Australia’s mass transit specialist partnering with governments, public authorities and private operators to innovate and enhance transport products and systems.

Bus design, engineering and manufacturing

TAG’s manufacturing arm Bustech is Australia’s only advanced bus OEM (original equipment manufacturer) with chassis designed, engineered and made in-house. Since establishing in 1995 after identifying an opportunity for enhanced innovation in bus manufacturing, Bustech has been at the forefront of bus design and development including producing the iconic urban double decker (CDi model) and Australia’s first electric bus (ZDi model). Bustech products are manufactured across locations in Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania.

Urban network design and planning

TAG’s specialist team of network planners, schedulers and continuous improvement specialists is devoted to designing efficient mass transit networks that integrate seamlessly with other transport modes such as metro and light rail. They design networks for both greenfield and brownfield projects as well as for specific needs, including electric vehicles. They also have extensive experience planning school services, tourist and special event shuttles as the largest special event service provider in Australia.

Urban network operation and asset maintenance

TAG owns and operates six urban transit companies across Australia’s east coast which commute millions of people every year. Through these leading operations, TAG implemented Australia’s first real time tracking system and first 24-hour bus service – and is currently conducting Australia’s first electric bus trial. These are also the only bus operations in Australia with international accreditation for health, safety, environment and quality across their operating systems.

Workforce training and development

TAG’s award-winning People Excellence Program offers 25 different training courses and qualifications for every position from entry-level to senior management. The initiative aims to enhance the performance of the organisation through recognising and lifting the professional skills among the workforce as well as encourage new and existing workers at all levels to develop a dynamic and successful career within the transport industry.
